Open Source Offers Options

Have you ever been using an application that is installed on your computer and become unbelievably frustrated with it? Open source technology allows users to find an alternative application. Many of these are free and, if you do a little research, you can easily find one that fits your needs and won't cost you a thing but a little bit of your time.
Here is a link to a blog that introduces many open source applications that can be used in place of the typical Microsoft or Apple software.

Ha.. I see the link. I have used some of them before.

Ubunto is the most populat Linux OS. A beautiful green inteface.

VLC is the Swiss Sword to play broken media.

Openoffice. I feel it too different from MS office. I have to quit because I have no time to learn again.

I use Foobar2000 for music playing. I don't like iTunes at all, big and slow.

I would agree with Yan in the usefulness of open source software. However, since I have started at SU and needed to turn assingments in MSword - my OpenOffice software doesn't do the trick. I have turned things in after converting them that mess up the tables and graphics.
If only our teachers would use OpenOffice.
